In 1910s London, phonetics professor Henry Higgins, a highly self-assured and snobbish scholar, takes on a challenge to transform Eliza Doolittle, a poor flower girl with a strong Cockney accent, into a refined lady of high society. Higgins makes a bet with his friend, Colonel Pickering, that through his linguistic expertise, he can teach Eliza to speak and behave like a duchess.
As Higgins works to refine Eliza’s speech and manners, the pair undergo unexpected changes, leading to a complex relationship that challenges both social conventions and their personal identities. This story is the basis of the classic play Pygmalion.
